There are some people in Guild Wars that do not know the meaning from right and wrong. The number of attempted scamming has increased greatly in Guild Wars. My thought about scammers is that they will do almost about anything for a fair amount of gold. Last time I was on Guild Wars I was selling a minipet and a Guild Wars Player whispered to me and said that he will buy it. I open traded with him and the amount I charged for the mini was 6k he put in 600gp. I quickly canceled trade and didn't speak with him again. I have spoke with MANY people and all of them agreed with me that scamming needs to be prevented. I have to say that ANet Is not doing a good job of preventing this. I would like to know the dumbest scam you ever encountered or any scam you ever fell for. I would also like to know your thoughts on what kind of steps should ANet take to prevent this.

It's not Anet job to protect players from their stupidity. Common sense FTW.
In a case like your, there's a simple way to prevent this. They call eyes, try using them.

It's people's idiocy that make scamming possible, and they are plentiful. Sadly, I don't think that Anet can do much to help them.

The best counter to intelligence is fatigue imo. Not that I've been a victim to scammery while tired, I don't typically trade, but I've read a few counts of over-tired people falling for simple things like this, particularly in the Riverside thread.

I found the best counter against these types of scams is counter-scam. If you try to sell something for 6K and they put in 600g, switch your item for some white rubbish you found in plains of Jarin. Now if he accepts, he just scammed himself, if he complains, you win either way

Sorry, but I think A-Net have other things too do than think for players.
If a player is too dumb to check the amount in the trade window before hitting the accept button thats his problem not A-Nets.

Point #1: I have done this on numerous occasions on complete accident. The seller just said "wrong amount of gold" and I hit "change offer" and put the right one in. Huge "D'OH!" moment, but no harm done. Maybe you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

Point #2: Just use common sense, double check everything when making a large transaction.

The other day I saw another guy selling moa eggs and I asked him "Why are you selling moa eggs when they only hatch (forgot what you have to do)" He answered back and said "Well, I have to earn a living here somehow!" Well, if people need to scam and basically rob people from their gold I don't think thats a living.

Selling Moa eggs and all the accessories needed to hatch it is NOT a scam,
it's like selling anyother quest item. Where is the scam in that? People should not buy Moa eggs if they don't know what they are for.
